Habitat: Shallow lakes with floating vegetation

Distribution: India, southeast Asia, Indonesia, Taiwan, south China

Diet: Insects and other invertebrates picked from floating vegetation and water’s surface

Distinguishing features: Huge feet and claws, different plumages for breeding (June-September) and non-breeding seasons, long tail during breeding
