Habitat: Freshwater, marshes, sometimes by the seashore

Distribution: Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, south China, Indonesia

Diet: Insects, small fish, aquatic invertebrates and seeds

Distinguishing features:  Dark grey upperparts and flanks, white face, neck and breast, yellow bill and legs, body is flattened laterally
