In case you missed reading it over the weekend, I'm forwarding my msg calling for donations of books, pencils, etc. for the students of Govt. School, Puttenahalli . The school has a strength of nearly 800 children and this year, the first batch will be appearing for the 10th board exam. They all come from economically poor backgrounds and a little help from us will go a long way with these children. So far we have recd some notebooks, pencils and erasers from Aditi (B1, 1102) who's "going to be eight years old." She is the only donor so far. Here's an appeal to Aditi's friends' parents and, indeed, all parents who are buying new books and pencils for
their children. Please buy one additional note book, one pencil and one eraser to help a child in the govt. school. A water bottle or a school bag will be a kind gesture too. You are welcome to come with your child and hand over your gift to the recipient yourself on June 11th at 9 a.m.
We'd appreciate receiving your contribution by 9th June.

After discussions with the Head Master of Puttenahalli Govt School today, PNLIT will be awarding prizes to the first three toppers of each of the standards for the academic year 2010-11 (Std 1 to Std 9) - a total of 27 prizes. And some toffees/ eclairs for the whole school.
The prizes will be new items and will include school bags, stationery (note books mainly for kannada writing, pencil boxes, pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, sharpeners, compass boxes), story books (kannada/ english), games/ toys, lunch boxes/ steel dabbas/ plates (the school is a recipient of Akshay Patra mid-day meal and the children need this to collect their lunch in school), water bottles, and anything else useful for school that we may collect. Some of the prizes will be bought by PNLIT and for the rest, we look to the residents of the area.
Thanks to those who have already contributed. Others who may wish to contribute, please give us your donations in kind/ cash by 9th June.
